Welcome to Maroon Outdoor Education Centre

Maroon Outdoor Education Centre is a unique educational facility that was created after the construction of Maroon Dam was completed in the mid-1970’s. The Centre had its first intake of students in 1975. The land on which the centre is situated was and continues to be, in the care of the Ugarapul and Munanjali people. Their unbroken stories of 60,000 years of country resonate in their people, their elders, the land, the animals, the trees, the water, the mountains and the air.

Maroon Outdoor Education Centre is located in the picturesque Scenic Rim and has both Mt Barney National Park and Main Range National Park within easy reach. These 2 national parks along with a number of other bushland settings are frequently used in our student programs as we deliver high quality educational experiences with an emphasis on adventure-based and experiential learning whilst also teaching students to connect with the natural world and tread lightly on these environs.

We deliver tailor made programs for each school that visits and wok across all sectors of schooling within the Department of Education. Our staff are passionate and this passion provides us with the inspiration, motivation, drive, creativity and clarity in our work and allows us to work in partnership with our visiting schools to deliver high quality programs with positive outcomes. We remain committed to experiencing adventure to enhance learning, to challenging students to move beyond their everyday comforts and to foster growth so that students become a better version of themselves.

I am exceptionally proud to be the Principal of this Centre as I am extremely fortunate to work alongside an incredible staff (both teaching and support staff) to deliver our unique and diverse learning experiences to students across Queensland. It is an uplifting experience to see the smiles on students’ faces or hear the excitement in their voices as they reflect on their growth and development.
