Bookings applications for 2024.

Applications for a booking at Maroon OEC during the 2024 school year closed on Friday 23rd June 2023, and the major bookings for 2024 have been finalised.

Currently there are still some spaces for small group bookings in terms 2, 3 and 4.  Contact the Centre for information about these opportunities.

Maroon OEC is a Department of Education school that values learning through community living and active engagement in camping, bushwalking, team building, aquatics and high challenge activities.

Maroon OEC provides bushwalking and camping opportunities to further enhance student growth through experiencing real responsibility.  Maroon OEC is committed to the value of campout and this is reflected in prioritising the acceptance of booking applications that include campout.

Applications will be prioritised as outlined in our booking selection policy.  Successful applicant schools will be advised of the outcome of their application by  the end of term 3.

The following information will help to inform your booking application decisions:

Read the information below and apply using the booking form that matches your preferred program.

1.Teamwork, Resilience, Connection and Leadership program

Our traditional, high quality outdoor education program designed to assist students to develop their personal and social capabilities.

This program can be delivered via either our traditional "Adventure" style of program (usually including campout), or a school lead "Workshop" style most suited to senior high school students.

2. School Curriculum program

Purposely designed program to address key practical field or outdoor knowledge and skills from a school unit or subject area. Commonly applied to Health Ed., Recreation Studies, Geography, and Senior Science subject field study components.

Maroon Outdoor Education Centre Booking Policy

As Maroon Outdoor Education Centre is a Department of Education school, priority is given to applications from other DET schools. All bookings are assessed on the educational merits of the application, and the Centre's ability to accommodate a particular group during any individual academic week.

Bookings will be offered to schools after all applications have been assessed and prioritised. Top priority is given to applications that maximise the use of the Centre's educational resources.  (Generally the Centre can accommodate a maximum of 168 students in beds or provide a program for a maximum of 8 groups.)

Late applications will not be considered in the booking process, but will be placed on a booking waiting list.  Schools will be notified of the outcome usually by week six, term three.

Community groups (weekends only)

Community groups wishing to apply for a booking must contact the Centre directly. These bookings do not open until the new year.
